On June 27, 2026, the Islamic State’s official A’maq News Agency released a video documenting the June 17 large-scale attack by the Islamic State Sahel Province (ISSP) on a Nigerien army base in Inates, in western Niger’s Tillaberi region. The clip featured a commander declaring that jihad in the Sahel and Africa is the fruit of prior experience and sacrifices by ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
ISSP claimed that on June 17, its fighters carried out two coordinated attacks targeting a central base and another site in the west of the country, firing Katyusha rockets, heavy machine guns, artillery, and rocket-propelled RPG grenades. ISIS “military sources” reported that the attacks killed at least 80 soldiers and disabled 65 vehicles.
Subsequently, the group released photosets documenting aspects of the assault in Inates and declared the following: “Let the apostates and their masters, the Crusaders, know that the blood of our leaders is the fuel of our battles and the amber of our jihad. May you die of your rage!”

The clip opens with scenes of armed fighters, faces digitally obscured, in vehicles and riding motorcycles in pairs, followed by footage of military vehicles and a fuel tank in flames, captured and slain soldiers, and a display of large quantities of captured vehicles, weapons, and ammunition.
“Rendez Vous In Baghdad, Mecca, And Jerusalem”
Next, an unidentified ISSP commander, sitting in the driver seat of a truck and speaking Arabic, addresses ISIS operatives in Iraqi prisons, urging them to persevere through their hardship, for they can expect divine rewards.
The commander then appears in a different setting, his boot on a soldier’s corpse, saying: “From here in the Sahel, we tell you that your jihad has successfully produced decisive outcomes in Africa, and yielded the absolute severance and dissociation, which you soaked with your own blood, here in the Sahel.”
“We shall Rendezvous in Baghdad, Mecca, and Jerusalem, Allah willing. It is indeed the promise of Allah, and Allah will not fail to answer,” he pledges.
Extensive Spoils
The clip concludes with a display of weapons reportedly looted during the attack, including vehicles, rifle magazines, medium and heavy machine guns, mortar rounds and multi-caliber launchers, ammunition crates, landmines, sniper rifles, and miscellaneous projectiles and equipment.
